EmpowHER Squash Athlete Support Policy

EmpowHER Squash is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering U19 girls around the world through the sport of squash. We provide financial support for squash-related expenses including equipment, travel, uniforms, training, and tournament fees. Our goal is to create a fair and transparent process that gives motivated and deserving girls access to opportunities they otherwise couldn’t afford.

Who Is Eligible?

  • Female athletes under 19 years old

  • Must demonstrate financial need

  • Must be actively participating in squash (club, school, or national level)

  • Must submit one adult reference (coach, teacher, or mentor)

 

What We Fund

  • Squash equipment (racquets, shoes, protective eyewear)

  • Tournament fees and travel

  • Uniforms and training costs

  • Other verified squash-related needs

 

How It Works EmpowHER operates on a bi-annual application cycle:

  • Fall Cycle: Applications open October 1, close October 31

  • Spring Cycle: Applications open March 1, close March 31

 

How to Apply Applications are completed through our online form. Required materials:

  1. Completed application form

  2. Short personal statement (max 300 words)

  3. Coach or teacher reference

  4. Optional: basic financial background (income bracket or free/reduced lunch eligibility)

 

Selection Process Applications are reviewed by a small committee using a scoring rubric:

  • Financial Need (5 pts)

  • Squash Commitment (5 pts)

  • Goals Clarity (3 pts)

  • Reference Strength (3 pts)

  • Essay Quality (4 pts)

 

Top scoring applicants will be contacted within 2–3 weeks of the deadline. Funds will be issued as reimbursements or direct payments to vendors, not as cash.

 

Expectations of Recipients

  • Submit a short update (photo + reflection) within 3 months

  • Follow and tag @empowher_squash if using Instagram
